American Style DanceSport
A grouping of 9 dances done in an exhibition style. The 5 Rhythm dances (Cha Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, Bolero, Mambo) and the 4 Smooth dances (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz) consist of moves based in not only the International Style, but also include out-of-syllabus steps that create a "Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers" appeal.
 
American Rhythm
A grouping of 5 dances consisting of Cha Cha, Rumba, East Coast Swing, Bolero, and Mambo. This grouping is the competitive alternative to the International Latin and is most commonly demonstrated in the United States.
 
American Smooth
A grouping of 4 dances consisting of Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot and Viennese Waltz. These dances are danced with "open" work that demonstrates an exhibition style. Commonly described as "Fred and Ginger" style. Along with the "open" work, the aspects of the International Standard are also incorporated.
